Where to check the temperature on a turkey or how to take a raw, cold slab of poultry and turn it into a thing of smoked beauty safely?
First off, let’s get this straight, that little button right there doesn’t always work.
In general, the best way to check the temperature of a turkey is to stick your thermometer probe into the meatious part of the thigh.
And I like to do that just under the leg.
The thigh is always the part that cooks the slowest.
I like to use a wireless thermometer probe.
This keeps my knuckles from getting burned trying to check the temperature of the turkey when it’s on the grill.
An important point to note is that it’s not about the time it takes to cook a turkey but the temperature that you cook the turkey to.
All poultry must be cooked to 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
When you cut into your turkey and those juices run clear, you know you’ve nailed it.
Hey, that’s it.
Thanks for watching.
