But the bird is still frozen on Monday. Looks like I’ll butterfly it Thur Morning. Great Idea..Thanks BBQ Brother
Excellent recipe and video, Gary! I think I’m going to have to go out and pick up a 13-14 lb. turkey to do this myself!! Looks like it turned out fantastic.

Hi Gary, thanks for the excellent video. I’m planning on grilling my 26 lb. butterflied turkey today, what would your guess be as to how long it will take, and at what ideal temperature? Happy Thanksgiving!
Greg, Thank you for the kind words. 26lbs!! Wow no small bird! My 12lb bird took 2 hours so your bird should come in at about 3 1/2 to 4 hours – now that is just a guess. Why? Outside tempurature, how well you keep the heat stable (cook at 325F – 350F), etc. What is the most important is the final tempurature of your bird 165 degree F. If it takes 20 hours to get there, then so be it (It won’t) just make sure it’s a minimum of 165 degrees F.
Are you adding anything to your bird? Rub? Did you brine it? Gas or charcoal?
Gary
This is an excellent video Gary! Thank you so much for sharing.
You’re very welcome Rick. Thanks for stopping by!
